"Everything in life moves in cycles or spirals. This is the nature of our physical existence on earth. When we pay attention to the body, we open up new pathways for awareness and change to move us through the cycles of life." (Lauree E. Moss, Ph.D., CLC. 2005)

Using body-mind life coaching skills, we can learn ways to work with the powerful non-verbal messages of the body. It is said that the body never lies. Through habitual ways of thinking, acting and feeling, there is often a disconnection between the mind and body. Whatever type of coaching you do, this course will provide tools to work with the fertile ground and information from the body to help bridge the body-mind gap.

The course content will focus on learning how to access the language of the body by paying attention to presence, physical sensations, breath, voice, and unconscious habit patterns. Readings, discussion, class experiments, cases, fieldwork, and buddy work will provide different ways to work with non-verbal content. The techniques of "pausing," "noticing" and "practicing" will be used to create and deepen awareness, and forward the action.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
  • To learn how to bridge the body-mind gap through body awareness and mindfulness exercises.
  • To understand the universal application of Body-Mind Life Coaching skills in all forms of coaching.
  • To understand the importance of breath and various ways to work with breathing in coaching.
  • To experiment with different skills and exercises to access the language of the body.
  • To understand when and how to use body-mind skills and techniques with clients.

Lauree Moss is an incredible coach and teacher, whose background, education and style of teaching is inspiring and motivating. She has a rich history in mind/body work, has brought that framework into coaching, and designed a fantastic course around it, so we coaches can use a mind/body focus with our clients when appropriate. I believe this to be some of the most valuable work I do in my coaching. I have taken two of her mind/body courses and loved them both. - Michelle K. Rios, MA, PCC, Igniting Excellence Coaching
